Aspirin is well known for its canine anti-inflammatory effects. Its greatest power lies in being able to stop the production of prostoglandis from which pain and inflammation come.

Aspirin not only relieves the pain from canine arthritis but also reduces swelling in the dog's joints.

It is worth remembering that the long-term use of aspirin may have harmful effects on the dog's stomach, liver and kidneys.  You should never use it with other NSAIDs drugs.

Also, make sure your dog has physical examination every couple of months in order to monitor for possible side effects. The examination should include blood and urine testing.

Though aspirin for dogs is an effective drug, it does carry a lot of risk with its use.  Use it sparingly and, best, on the advice of your vet.
